The roof is a critical line of defense for any building. It protects your investment. It is not very glamorous, but it is important. A new roof can be expensive, often inconvenient, and no one likes having to pay to replace a roof. No one likes dealing with insurance companies. But it is necessary to keep occupants and belongings protected.
Roof replacement should be taken very seriously and without delay. The benefits of a new roof typically outweigh the costs.
A roof replacement requires tearing off all the roofing material down to the deck. Next, new felt paper and shingles or other roofing material would be installed.
We can help. Keystone Contracting will provide a thorough roof inspection and give you a first-hand evaluation of the damage, condition, options, insurance issues and requirements, and other considerations. This process is completed with full transparency.
To avoid costly building damage, identify the early signs of a failing roof.
Heat and ultraviolet rays cause roofing materials to deteriorate over time. Deterioration can occur faster on sides facing west or south.
When water gets underneath shingles, shakes or other roofing materials, it can work its way to the roof deck and cause the roof structure to rot. Extra moisture encourages mildew.
High winds can lift shingles’ edges (or other roofing materials) and force water and debris underneath them. Extremely high winds can cause extensive damage.
Not too likely in Houston but you never know it could happen…melting snow often refreezes at a roof’s overhang where the surface is cooler and can form an ice dam.
Condensation can result from the buildup of relatively warm, moisture-laden air. Moisture in a poorly ventilated attic promotes decay of wood sheathing and rafters, possibly destroying the roof structure.
Moss can grow on moist wood shingles and shakes. Once it grows, moss holds even more moisture to a roof system’s surface, causing rot. In addition, moss roots also can work their way into a wood deck and structure.
Tree branches touching a roof will scratch and gouge roofing materials when the branches are blown by the wind. Falling branches from overhanging trees can damage, or even puncture, shingles, and other roofing materials.
The key to a roof system’s effectiveness is complete protection across the entire roof. When shingles are missing or torn off, a roof structure and home or building interior are vulnerable to water damage and rot. Patching shingles is not going to provide 100% protection.
If any of the above occur - you have an unhealthy roof. Contact Keystone Contracting immediately for a FREE ROOF EVALUATION.
If anyone suggests that you "make money" or "not pay your full deductible" on the roof installation and/or property claim with a contract price of $1,000.00 or greater, this is INSURANCE FRAUD, and you and the contractor could face jail time and fines. "Waiving Deductibles", "Absorbing Deductibles", "Discounting Deductibles", "Rebates", "Credits", "Offsets", "Sign Allowances" or any form of avoiding monetary payment of the required insurance deductible. IT'S AGAINST THE LAW!
"Texas Law requires a person insured under a property insurance policy to pay any deductible applicable to a claim made under the policy. It is a violation of Texas law for a person or business paid wholly or partly from proceeds of a property insurance claim to knowingly allow the policyholder to fail to pay, or assist the policyholder's failure to pay, the applicable insurance deductible."
The new statute gives insurance companies and the State two ways to enforce these requirements.
FIRST - Insurance companies may now "refuse to pay a claim for replacement cost value" until the insured provides proof of payment of the deductible (Texas Insurance Code 707.005)
SECOND - It will be a Class A misdemeanor to violate the statute; both the service provider and the insured are subject to violations. (Texas Insurance Code 707.006)
